Let's just say....three kids is a joy, but also a challenge. Obviously God thinks we can handle three because He blessed us with these precious lives, but wow. It just makes us rely more on Him for guidance and wisdom. Here's the latest on our three miracles:
Hallister (3 years 3 months old) adores his sister. He asks all the time to hold Liberty. Last week we finally said enough is enough, he is 3, let's do this thing. We completely took diapers out of the picture. We have cookies in the bathroom and when he poops in the potty he gets one. He has actually been doing really well. He is holding his poop in a little more than he used to but laxatives and incentives are helping with that. Most mornings his sheets have been dry. He loves these 24 piece wooden Thomas the Train puzzles. We timed him today and he put it together in 8 minutes without help. He loves to help cook. I bought this fun little cardboard house for the boys to play in. Hallister would stick his head out the window and ask for my order....usually he offered cookies.We are still working with him on sharing.
Preston (almost 18 months) loves to do everything his brother does, probably his most favorite is to spin circles in the living room. He also loves to be chased. He really enjoying running inside their playhouse to hide. The doors were just the right height for Preston. We found out he is allergic to blueberries after he broke out after eating some. Thankfully his rash that was on his face for a long time went away about 4 months ago. He must have just grown out of some allergy. His canines have made their way through giving him a total of 14 teeth. He has drooled the most with these and probably soaks 3-4 bibs a day. Poor guy had pink eye and then an ear infection early last month. Then he developed a cough. He is finally all better. Preston is getting frustrated with not being able to communicate his needs. When he is hungry he will walk up to the high chair or when he wants to go outside he'll go up to the back door. When he is playing in the living room and will say something he wants and we can't figure it out he starts to throw toys. We are still working with sign language. He is our comedian. He has started to shuffle his feet back and forth like a penguin when he walks. It is really cute. He also has an addicting laugh.
Now on to on our little lady Liberty (almost 6 weeks). She is sleeping fairly well, usually 4-5 hours, eats, then goes back to sleep, so I only have to get up once during the night to feed her. We had quite a scare last week with her. She was very sleepy through our Christmas celebrations. She wasn't eating that much and when she did eat she would spit most of it up. She started to cough as well. After I got home to Waco with Preston and Liberty from our last Christmas, she started to cough violently and it seemed like she had trouble breathing. (Hallister had stayed with my parents and Jonathan was hunting.)I did not want to take any chances. I called my mother in law (since it was 11pm and Preston was sleeping) to come over to stay with Preston so I could take Liberty to the ER. They sucked snot out of her nose to test for RSV and did chest x-rays to look for pneumonia. Thankfully she had neither, but did have bronchitis. She is doing much better now after sleeping at an angle in her bouncer. We use the aspirator every day. Hopefully the congestion will clear up soon. I was surprised to find out at the ER that she weighs 11 POUNDS! What happened to our little girl?? She is wearing 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. She still has dark blue eyes so we will see if they stay that way. She has my lips, but when Jonathan holds her I think she got everything else from him.
